Upcoming Cycling Events

Starting May 16: Spring HopOn Course for Kids in Cornwall!

Cycling PEI and the Town of Cornwall are pleased to once again partner on a HopOn kids cycling course for kids aged 6-13 from May 16 to May 30 at Cornwall Town Hall.

HopOn is a games-based program meant to introduce kids to cycling in a fun, safe, and engaging environment with NCCP-trained coaches. Learn more at www.cyclingpei.org/hopon.

The program will be taking place on the following Saturday mornings from 9am to 10:00am:

May 16th
May 23rd
May 30th

HopOn is designed for kids who already know how to ride without training wheels and wish to advance their bicycle skills. Your child should be able to pedal for a minimum of 60 pedal strokes without stopping in order to be ready for HopOn.

Summerside Muckraker: Sunday, May 24th

Join us at Summerside’s Rotary Park for the PEI’s first MTB cross country race of the season!

There will be an 10:00am start time for U15 and under, with U17 and above category starts beginning at 11:45am. Check-in for the race opens at 9:30am.

June 7: Brookvale Enduro - Gravity Series Race #1

Mark your calendar for the first Gravity Series (Enduro) race of the 2026 season!

This event will take place on the “West” trails of Brookvale Nordic (Bleu Nuit, Adams Family, VeePee & Okey Dokey). See map here.

This race is organized by the PEI Gravity Syndicate and sanctioned by Cycling PEI.

June 7: Indian River Road Race

Get ready for Cycling PEI’s first road race of the 2026 season! This 12km loop course features rolling hills, for a low difficulty but high fun factor to get back into the groove for another year of cycling.

Members and UCI license holders: $35
Non-members: $45

Prices increase by $5 four days prior to the event and by an additional $5 on the day of the event

Terry Fox Ride of Hope:
PEI Gravel Edition!
Sunday, June 20

Cycling PEI is excited to host our 3rd Annual Terry Fox Ride of Hope (Gravel) on Sunday June 20th starting at 10am. With this being the 46th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, it’s one more good reason to join us this year!

Participants raised over $5000 for cancer research in 2024 - can we beat that result this year?

We welcome riders of all levels and abilities to join us, with routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels to please everyone from the casual cyclist to those looking for a challenge. Route options will include portions of the Confederation Trail as well as heritage roads in the area around the historic Sir Andrew MacPhail House where all rides begin and end.

Community Announcements

Applications Are Now Open for City’s Climate Action Microgrants!

The City of Charlottetown is excited to share that applications are now open for the 2026 Climate Action Microgrant Program!

If your organization has a climate or sustainability idea that could benefit the community, we invite you to submit an application and help turn that idea into action.

This program offers up to $2,500 per project to support local individuals and community organizations to deliver community‑based environment and sustainability projects in Charlottetown.

About the Microgrants

Climate Action Microgrants support projects that advance the goals of the City’s Climate Action Plan. To be eligible, projects must:

Take place within Charlottetown
Be completed by January 31, 2027
Align with at least one of the Climate Action Plan’s goals, themes, or actions.

Eligible applications will be reviewed by a selection committee based on creativity, project feasibility, community impact, and alignment with the Climate Action Plan goals.

Since the program began in 2011, more than $215,000 has supported over 100 community sustainability projects and events in Charlottetown, ranging from a coffee pod recycling initiative to a backup power and emergency readiness program to an edible garden tour.

This year marks a major evolution as we transition to a micromobility count. While we continue to track vital data for people on bikes, we are expanding our scope to measure the surge in e-bikes, e-scooters, and shared mobility transforming Canadian streets. Your participation provides the snapshot needed to build a stronger, evidence-based case for safer infrastructure in every province.

Building on the success of 2025, which captured nearly 50,000 riders, we are getting ready to make this our best count yet! Whether you are a returning volunteer or joining us for the first time, your efforts help map the future of active transportation across Canada.
