2024 Spring HopOn Course at Victoria Park

Cycling PEI and the City of Charlottetown, with funding from the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, are pleased to partner on a HopOn kids cycling course for kids aged 6-13 from May 11 to June 8, 2024 at Victoria Park Ball Clubhouse on Forbes Kennedy Way.

What is HopOn? HopOn is a games-based program meant to introduce kids to cycling in a fun, safe, and engaging environment with NCCP-trained coaches. Learn more at www.cyclingpei.org/hopon.

The program will be taking place on the following Saturday afternoons from 2:30pm to 3:45pm:

  • May 11th

  • May 25th

  • June 1st

  • June 8th

NOTE: There will be NO class on Saturday, May 18th.

HopOn is designed for kids who already know how to ride and wish to advance their bicycle skills. Your child should be able to pedal for a minimum of 60 pedal strokes without stopping in order to be ready for HopOn.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bikes if they have them; Cycling PEI will also have a number of bikes to lend those who need a bike.

The program will focus on helping students improve their fundamental cycling skills through games and rides in the area. Students will be separated into smaller groups to ensure a high-quality learning experience for all participants. 

All participants will be be provided with sport accident insurance coverage during the program, and will receive a free Cycling for All membership in Cycling PEI, the provincial cycling association!

Registration cost: $10 (with free option for those for whom cost is a barrier).

Cycling PEIBike Friendly Communities and the Rural Municipality of Brackley are pleased to partner on a HopOn kids cycling course for kids aged 6-13 from May 15 to June 5, 2024 at Brackley Commons!.

What is HopOn? HopOn is a games-based program meant to introduce kids to cycling in a fun, safe, and engaging environment with NCCP-trained coaches. Learn more at www.cyclingpei.org/hopon.

The program will be taking place on the following Wednesday evenings from 6pm-7pm:

  • May 15th

  • May 22nd

  • May 29th

  • June 5th

HopOn is designed for kids who already know how to ride and wish to advance their bicycle skills. Your child should be able to pedal for a minimum of 60 pedal strokes without stopping in order to be ready for HopOn.

Cycling PEI and the Town of Cornwall are pleased to once again partner on a HopOn kids cycling course for kids aged 6-13 from May 25 to June 15, 2024 at Cornwall Town Hall.

What is HopOn? HopOn is a games-based program meant to introduce kids to cycling in a fun, safe, and engaging environment with NCCP-trained coaches. Learn more at www.cyclingpei.org/hopon.

The program will be taking place on the following Saturday mornings from 10am to 11:15am:

  • May 25th

  • June 1st

  • June 8th

  • June 15th

HopOn is designed for kids who already know how to ride and wish to advance their bicycle skills. Your child should be able to pedal for a minimum of 60 pedal strokes without stopping in order to be ready for HopOn.

 Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bikes if they have them; Cycling PEI will also have a number of bikes to lend those who need a bike.

FREE HopOn Bikefest at Simmons Sports Centre

Cycling PEI and the City of Charlottetown are pleased to offer a FREE Bikefest for kids aged 6-13 on May 4, 2024 at starting at 2:30pm at the Simmonds Sports Centre!

What is HopOn? HopOn is a games-based program meant to introduce kids to cycling in a fun, safe, and engaging environment with NCCP-trained coaches. Learn more at www.cyclingpei.org/hopon.

Participants of the Bikefest will:

  • Have the opportunity to have their bikes and helmets checked out by the pros from Ted’s Bicycle Studio (bikes may be borrowed from the HopOn fleet if needed);

  • Play fun games from the HopOn curriculum to learn and practice safe cycling skills;

  • Receive free HopOn giveaways;

  • Be treated to a FREE BBQ courtesy of the City of Charlottetown;

  • Have the opportunity to enroll (at a heavily subsidized rate) in a four-week HopOn course taking place at Victoria Park on the Saturday afternoons of May 11 & 25 and June 1 & 8;

  • Receive a FREE Cycling for All membership in Cycling PEI, PEI's provincial cycling association!
