Cycling PEI is now accepting applications for two exciting summer employment opportunities for 2026: Summer Events & Operations Assistant and Cycling for All Coordinator. These roles offer hands-on experience in event planning, youth programming, and community sport development.
PLEASE NOTE: As these positions are funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, only candidates under the age of 30 at the beginning of the employment term, who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act can be considered for this position.
Summer Events & Operations Assistant
$20/h
35 hours/week

Summary of the role: Working with the Program Director and other staff, the Operations Assistant will play an important role in supporting the delivery of Cycling PEI’s many summer events and programs.
This position is for 35 hours/week, for up to 15 weeks, and requires the ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends when activities are taking place.
Location of work: This position will require the employee to be on-site at events and activities. At other times, the employee has the option of performing most work from home and/or from the Cycling PEI office located at 40 Enman Crescent, Charlottetown. The employee will meet regularly with the Program Director for work instruction, feedback, support and mentorship.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
Supporting the planning, preparation and execution of competitive and recreational cycling events and programs
Supporting organizing efforts for large-scale events like the Brookvale Canada Cup and the PEI Gran Fondo
Taking a hands-on supporting instructor role (training provided) in child-oriented cycling programs like HopOn and our Push Bike Learn-to-Ride program
Performing administrative tasks in relation to these and other Cycling PEI initiatives
Role requirements:
Possession of a valid driver's license and/or reliable access to vehicle transportation to get to race and activity locations (mileage is reimbursed)
18-29 years old and enrolled in school full-time in the current school year, with the intention to return to school full-time in the fall
Reliable, well-organized and with good time management skills
An ability to work independently
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, coaches and parents
Facility with computer-based technologies (eg. Google Docs, email, online registration and race timing systems, etc)
The successful candidate will be required to undergo Cycling PEI’s SafeSport screening policy, including obtaining a Criminal Background Check.

Prior experience and/or experience with sport and recreation
Prior experience with project or event management, volunteer coordination or similar organizing roles
Cycling for All Coordinator

Summary of the role: Working with the Program Director and other Cycling PEI staff and volunteers, the Cycling for All Coordinator will play a leading role in the organization and delivery of inclusive summer cycling events and programming, including:
Our Rigid Riders all-ages mountain biking club;
Our HopOn kids cycling education program;
Learn-to-ride programs;
Other cycling events and initiatives.
Please note that many of the aforementioned programs involve working with children under the age of 12. NCCP coaching and related education will be provided, making this an ideal position for someone with an interest in coaching or instructing in any sport, or in careers in the domains of education or recreation generally.
This position is for 35 hours/week, for up to 17 weeks, and requires the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when activities are taking place.

At other times, the employee has the option of performing most work from home and/or from the Cycling PEI office located at 40 Enman Crescent, Charlottetown. The employee will meet regularly with the Program Director for work instruction, feedback, support and mentorship.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
Performing on-site and administrative coordination tasks to support the smooth organization of the Rigid Riders All-Ages Mountain Bike program, with weekly evening sessions from June through August;
Working with program coordinators, support the planning, organization and delivery of HopOn and learn-to-ride courses in school and community settings;
Completing the training program required to become a qualified HopOn instructor;
Coordinating preparations for CPEI-organized recreational cycling events such as group rides and clinics, including event promotion, volunteer coordination, handling inquiries, managing event registrations, and planning event logistics;
Leading event set-up, management and follow-up activities;
Supporting organizers of CPEI-sanctioned recreational events, as required.
